The Jewish Rome Segway Tour tells the story of the oldest continuous Jewish community outside Israel. Its story goes back to the year 160 BC when a Maccabees ambassador from Judah came to Rome seeking an alliance with the Romans against Syrian Greeks. Since then this small community ,with its traditions and values, has always been around in a city based around Christianity. For over 2,200 years the Roman Jewish community has seen it all: A warm welcome from Julius Caesar, the Destruction of the Big Temple in Jerusalem by Titus, the birth of Christianity, Medieval time with its Inquisitions and persecutions, the life in Ghetto surrounded by walls, the fascism regime and the Nazi occupation of Italy.
